1 key stat to know about every player on Team USA

After completing its 5-game exhibition schedule, Team USA opens group play at the 2024 Paris Olympics against Serbia on Sunday.

The 2024 United States Olympic team is the 19th edition of the Senior National Team comprised of NBA players.

It is also the oldest of the 19 squads, with the 12 players averaging 30.5 years of age when the first game tips off on Sunday. They’ve played 125 seasons in the NBA (also the most of the 19 NBA squads) and 1,160 playoff games, 301 more than any other American roster.

But while it’s an old roster, it still has eight All-NBA selections from the past season, tied for the most since 1996, when all 12 players on the Olympic team were current All-NBA selections (something that may never happen again with the influx of international stars in the years since).

Here are some numbers to know about all 12 players on what is a relatively stacked squad:

Bam Adebayo, C, Miami Heat

According to Second Spectrum tracking, Heat opponents have scored just 0.86 points per chance when Adebayo has defended an isolation play over the last three seasons.

That’s the second-best mark among 37 players who’ve defended at least 500 total isolations over the last three years.

Devin Booker, G, Phoenix Suns

Booker’s 6.9 assists per game (up from 5.5 in 2022-23) and assist/turnover ratio of 2.65 last season were the highest marks of his career.

He had eight games of at least 20 points and 10 assists, more than in the previous two seasons combined.

Stephen Curry, G, Golden State Warriors

Last season was the fifth in which Curry made at least 300 3-pointers.

Every other player (over the 45 years of the 3-point line) has had two total seasons of at least 300 made 3s.

Anthony Davis, C, Los Angeles Lakers

Davis has averaged at least 24 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks (playing at least 50 games) in seven different seasons.

That’s tied with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for second most in the 51 seasons that blocks have been tracked, trailing only Shaquille O’Neal (nine).

Kevin Durant, F, Phoenix Suns

Durant is the only player who scored at least 400 points on drives, 400 points on catch-and-shoot jumpers and 400 points on pull-up jumpers last season.

Anthony Edwards, G, Minnesota Timberwolves

Check out the best of Anthony Edwards at the USA Basketball Showcase.

Edwards has seen jumps in true shooting percentage (scoring efficiency) every season, from 52.3% as a rookie to 57.5% last season.

The 57.5% still ranked 14th among 16 players who averaged at least 25 points per game.

Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers

Embiid became just the second player in NBA history to play at least 500 total minutes and score more than a point per minute, averaging 37.2 per 36 minutes last season.

Tyrese Haliburton, G, Indiana Pacers

Haliburton’s assist/turnover ratio of 4.73 last season was the second-highest mark for a player who averaged at least 10 assists per game (88 total instances) in the 46 seasons for which turnovers have been tracked.

Jrue Holiday, G, Boston Celtics

Holiday shot 60.4% on corner 3-pointers last season.

That was the best mark for a player with at least 75 corner 3-point attempts in the 28 seasons for which we have shot-location data.

LeBron James, F, Los Angeles Lakers

Lebron James delivers clutch play and key highlights during the USA Basketball Showcase.

James was the league’s leading fourth-quarter scorer last season, averaging 8.1 points in the final 12 minutes of regulation.

Jayson Tatum, F/G, Boston Celtics

Tatum is one of three players — Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic are the others — to average at least 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists (in 50 games or more) in each of the last four seasons.

Derrick White, G, Boston Celtics

White was the only player last season to shoot 55% or better on at least 300 2-point attempts, 38% or better on at least 300 3-point attempts and 90% or better on at least 100 free-throw attempts.
